Because you need to know that your Security System is ALWAYS working!
When setting up a security system you want to make sure that IT WORKS. Cameras and recording devices can go days, hours, and minutes without functioning and they aren’t built to tell you about it. Even with the most sophisticated security systems you need to know immediately if they aren’t working. More often than not, a security breach is the source of the malfunction. NVR Health Monitor will alert you when your system fails to do it’s job.
DVR system failures, connectivity issues, camera connections, hard drive failures, time stamp errors, and recording length errors.
We are dedicated to our clients, and they benefit from our strong mission and clear vision. If you're looking to secure your business, call us today for a comprehensive solution package based on your budget and requirements.
1. DVR-Most customers put their DVR in a closet, server room, or on someone’s desk and they don’t look at it. They only have the DVR for “just in case.” They might not look at it for months at a time. Then when the time comes, the DVR didn’t capture what they needed.
a. Many times the DVR has been unplugged, turned off, or stopped working.
b. The camera has died, malfunctioned, or been moved.
c. A hard drive has died and stopped recording.
d. The timestamp is wrong and can’t be used to prove anything.
e. The event was past the threshold for set recording time.
2. Internet connection is down.
3. Cameras break or become damaged or unplugged.
4. Hard drives fail.
5. Time stamps fail.
With NVR Health Monitor, an automated system is communicating with your NVR on a scheduled basis and checking for all of these possible failures. If anything is found to be wrong with your system, an alert is made and an email is automatically sent to you the customer, your installer, or both; with suggestions on how to repair it. Now, any problems are detected before there is an event that needs to be recorded!
You may be surprised to know that most NVRs work without alerts or customer notifications. Our health monitor lets you know that the system is doing what it should be. This is why we offer summary emails in our service to you. Items in your system will be checked, let you know how they’re working, and system failures you’ve had during the review report period will be listed. We can also offer information on repair suggestions or how to contact your dealer for any repairs.
Our health monitor will attempt to connect to the NVR at a set interval. If we cannot connect after 3 attempts, it will trigger an alert and customer notification email.
When the account is registered with the health monitor, the system determines how many cameras are connected. If at any time the camera number is not the same or the camera is no longer communicating with the NVR, the customer will be alerted. The alert will tell them the name and IP Address of the camera if available.
Hard drives used in NVRs today are still spinning drives and subject to failure at the same rate as any other retail grade hard drive. If a hard drive fails, the system will not be able to record. If there are multiple drives in the NVR, it may be able to continue to record, but since the total available space has been drastically reduced, the total recording time will be greatly reduced. Depending on the NVR, the system may not record at all until the failure has been fixed. Knowing this is happening is crucial for your system to do it’s job.
The embedded time stamp on the NVR is critical to proving what happened, at the time that it happened. If the time stamp is off by even a few minutes, it can make proving your case difficult. NVRs don’t deal with Daylight Saving time very well. Often the time is wrong by 1 hour for 6 months out of the year. If there is a problem, the user will be alerted.
Often your DVR is getting much less recording time than you thought. If you assume you’re getting a certain amount of days, you need to know if something occurs that reduces your recording time to less. Our system will let you know how much time you have available.
